Hexagon Metrology UK has won recognition for its staff development with a prestigious award achieved by only the top two per cent of British businesses.

The measurement specialist has attained the Investors in People Gold standard after a thorough appraisal of its management systems by a team of independent auditors.

Hexagon, which has offices in Telford, Chester and Milton Keynes, chose to be assessed for the highest honour as it had been an accredited IIP organization since 2002.

“I believe it’s very important to allow ourselves to be audited across a wide range of areas, so that we can use the good and challenging feedback to build strategies for continuous improvement,” commented general manager David Brown.

“It was a pleasant surprise to learn that we had satisfied the criteria and reached the elite standard. Highly motivated people with great attitude are critical to the success of a business,” he added.

Hexagon had to meet more than 100 evidence requirements, which were gathered by assessors who interviewed and observed staff during the in-depth audit process.

The company employs 88 people in the UK and has an annual turnover approaching £20 million. It has recently invested in a new sub-contract inspection and measurement facility at its Telford head office.

Hexagon is a long-established supplier of stationary and portable metrology equipment, which is supported by a wide variety of customer services such as system and software maintenance and training.
